Western Port News services the rich areas on the eastern side of the Mornington Peninsula. The region has a busy port and is home to HMAS Cerberus – the primary training facility of the Royal Australian Navy.

The region is home to a busy retail sector and but it is also a notable wine growing area that produces small quantities of high quality vintages, especially of pinot noir.

Fruit production is a key industry on the Western Peninsula growing apples, cherries and berries. Organic farming is gaining momentum in the area and there are many small-scale boutique businesses producing chocolate, preserves, olive oil and cheese that is sold at local markets and other outlets.

Tourism is a growth industry thanks to the local Marine National Park, the proximity to Melbourne and the quality restaurants and produce of the district.
