Editorial Director, Australian Community Media

Rod Quinn

Rod edited Fairfax daily newspapers for more than 10 years before taking up the position of ACM editorial director. He began his career at the Newcastle Herald in 1987 and covered industrial relations before working as a financial wire service correspondent, a sub-editor and community newspaper editor.

Rod had a key role in the implementation of the first pagination system at the Newcastle Herald and oversaw the editorial side of the paper’s switch from broadsheet to tabloid in 1998.

Rod was appointed editor of the Herald in 2003. He moved to The Canberra Times as editor in 2009 and led the masthead when it adopted an audience-first digital publishing strategy and launched its successful iPad app.

Rod became editor-in-chief of The Canberra Times in 2012 and later combined this role with the position of editorial production services director, responsible for editorial production across Australia and New Zealand. Rod has been ACM editorial director since October 2014.

Sharon Fitter

In 2017 Sharon Fitter was appointed Local Sales Director of Australian Community Media having only been with the company for 12 months as Sales Capability leader. Sharon is responsible for achievement of both print and digital direct sales across 160 Australian mastheads.

Sharon is an established business leader, mentor and coach with a diverse range of skills including Sales leadership, operations, enablement and capability. Sharon has also worked across Career Management as a qualified Executive Coach. Sharon’s coaching accreditations are with Marshall Goldsmith (stakeholder centred coaching) , ICEL and ICF.

Sharon has over 19 years management experience and 3 years consulting experience, holding both frontline and executive leadership positions.

Since joining ACM Sharon has created and implemented the Universal Way which is the ACM selling philosophy, implemented a measurable coaching model, implemented and designed Gap Planning strategy to drive conversion. Sharon has proven success in enabling outcomes and behavioural change that are sustainable in today’s diverse corporate sales environments.


Chief Marketing Officer, Australian Community Media

Paul Tyrell

Paul has over 20 years experience in a range of marketing & commercial roles including Tatts Group as Group Marketing Manager, as Group Marketing Manager before moving into the media with senior roles at Southern Cross Austereo followed by 6 years at Domain in a dual role as Marketing Director for the Vic business and Commercial Strategy Director for property developers nationally. 

As Chief Marketing Officer for the group, Paul brings a wealth of experience in the media & property industry and a proven record in building, launching and maintaining products/brands that attract high quality and engaged audiences.
