Residents of Orange and the surrounding villages enjoy this free weekly publication, home delivered every week to homes in town as well as strategic bulk drops. Midstate Observer provides the community with local community news, columns, features and offerings from local retail outlets and services.

Situated on the Central Tablelands of NSW, Orange is a major regional centre for Industry, Agriculture, Education and Government Infrastructure and is home to the headquarters of the NSW Department of Primary Industries. The Orange district is a major producer of fruit, with crops worth $10 million in an average season and accounting for two thirds of the State’s apple crops. Small mixed farms produce fat lambs, beef cattle, wheat and oats.

There is also significant timber producing areas in the district. Wine grape production has emerged as a new agricultural strength of the region. Orange is fast becoming a centre of excellence for educational services and is home to

the ever expanding Orange campus of Charles Sturt University Schools of Dentistry and Health Science.

There are eighteen primary and secondary schools plus tertiary and adult education institutions in Orange, the calibre of which that attract teachers and business professionals to the region.
